چکیده

A large amount of Cassava peel as biomass waste is generated by agricultural activities, and it led to a new pursuit exploit the utilization waste. This research aimed study potential raw material for bioethanol production. was performed in 2 main processes, acid hydrolysis, fermentation. The experiment initiated conducting hydrolysis (100°C 60 min) on peel’s starch using sulfonated carbon catalyst palm oil empty fruit bunch (5%-w/v) produce 13.53 g/L glucose. glucose contained hydrolysates then continued ferment at 30°C. effect fermentation time (h), pH, shaking rate (rpm) cassava Saccharomyces cerevisiae analyzed. best result found pH 4.5 50 rpm 24 h reaction with 3.75 concentration. revealed that promising feedstock biofuel

Hydrogen generation from hydrolysis of sodium borohydride using sulfonated porous carbon as reagent/catalyst

The hydrolysis of sodium borohydride as a source of hydrogen gas is studied at different mole ratios of H+ to NaBH4. The sulfonated porous carbon (SPC) is used as a source of hydrogen ion and catalyst. It is found that the sulfonated porous carbon exhibits high activity for the hydrolysis of NaBH4 to generate hydrogen gas at room temperature in comparison to Amberlyst-15 and Nafion-NR50. The ki...

Bioethanol production from Jerusalem artichoke by acid hydrolysis

The hydrolysis of inulin from Jerusalem artichoke (JA) slices by HCl under different regimes of temperature and hold (contact time) time was investigated. Final reducing sugars concentration in the hydrolyzates depended on temperature, pH, hydromodule (JA:water) and hold time. Acid hydrolysis at higher temperature and longer hold time increased the degradation of fructan to fructose and increas...

Sulfonated porous carbon catalyzed esterification of free fatty acids

The esterification of free fatty acids (FFA) with methanol is studied using Sulfonated Porous Carbon (SPC) as catalyst. In compare to the amorphous sugar catalyst and protonated Nafion, the proposed catalyst shows stability and high efficient performance in biodiesel production. The highest initial rate of oleic acid conversion is obtained at catalyst loading of 1 mmol H+ and mole ra...

Improved Bioethanol Production Using Activated Carbon-treated Acid Hydrolysate from Corn Hull in Pachysolen tannophilus

To optimally convert corn hull, a byproduct from corn processing, into bioethanol using Pachysolen tannophlius, we investigated the optimal conditions for hydrolysis and removal of toxic substances in the hydrolysate via activated carbon treatment as well as the effects of this detoxification process on the kinetic parameters of bioethanol production. Maximum monosaccharide concentrations were ...
